Tragic Beauty

They walked closely next to each other
The cold wind bit her nose and froze his hands
They looked like a couple, they weren’t
They wanted it to work
He was ready to change, she was ready to accept him
Neither wanted the other to have to though
They knew that love hurt
They knew that love can break fragile things
Sadness is accepting that you are alone and that you deserve it
It’s being okay with the pain
Happiness is finding something you love
She was happy, he was drowning and in that drowning he found sadness
He spent his whole life trying to tell people that he was happy
No matter how many times he said it, it was never true
She spent her whole life trying to tell people that she was okay but in the end it was no more true
They were broken in their own beautiful ways
They saw a solution in each other, a hand to grab onto
The destruction that he was born in was lessened by the love she radiates
They were ready but not for each other
They were ready to fix themselves
They let themselves be alone so the other wouldn’t be broken further
And that’s what love entails
That’s the love between them
