Untroubled by Flowers

once a time
tied by tongue
and tail
falling too far forward
on broken wings
caught by beauty
like a trap upon the heart
bled dry
by self-inflicted wounds;
now, further on
and years down the line
there is a wholeness
where the holes used to be
and a peaceful ease
for every crack
in the heart.
