View Over Sun Moon Lake

(Taiwan)

written by: Ian Fletcher

The serene waters below should
mirror a contentment of the soul
as though this lake’s tranquility
could deliver subtle intimations
of eternity and inner peace.

Yet the storm clouds gathering
are harbingers of harsh winds
and lashing rains that will fall
obliterating this pretty scene
with stark reminders of
the transience of it all.
