Why is The Moon Angry Tonight

Why is The Moon Angry Tonight

written by: Maria Evelyn Quilla Soleta

the moon’s belly shows pregnant veins
ready to pop at 9cm!
nimbus clouds chase the yelling beams
and cover the quiet stars against their will.

tonight, on this one special night,
the bursting moon should show
because ships must sail,
lovers must kiss,
poets must hunt for passion
among the shadows of trees.

but now, at 9am,
the moon is so hurt.
it is gritting at the clouds,
lashing at the winds,
ranting at the minutes,
even loathing the sky
that places her in its midst.

tonight, this full moon
is heavy and laborious
like the crashing waves,
it whips at every shore
and is very, very furious!
