Why does insightful wisdom come so late
Why do our capricious gods make us wait

What were we taught by the bitter-sweet lessons of youth
What ever became of that quickly stolen transient truth

Where now are your innocent and foolish childhood dreams
Where then have you hidden all those careworn silent screams

When will your tear filled eyes learn clearly to see
When did you accept life’s defeat and decide simply to let it be
