Salty Eyes

Let me hide my eyes
Hoping they don’t expose me.
Eyes will shed drops on the ground
And no one will notice it.
Salted water is mixed of
Midnight pains
Daylight hidden story
And the conflict of mind
And where is the destination?
Sea or ground?
Let’s hide tears under a smile
The deep mysterious smile
With immense ache
That will diminish the shadow of pain
From the face, or,
In the sense of imagination
Let’s just transgress reality
The bitter truth
From “the life”
Or better be faded away
In the middle of all hustle and bustle
Render of chaos
With shattering eyes.
Shahnaz Jasmeen Keya is a lecturer in Department of Education (English) in RTM Al-Kabir Technical University situated in Shahi Eidgah, Sylhet. She has completed her B.A. (honours) and M.A. from Metropolitan University. She also received Teachers Training on TESOL Methodology delivered by University of Maryland, Baltimore County offered by US Embassy. Her research interests follow Diaspora Studies, Feminist Studies, Repository of Tagore and English Language Teaching. Having two published abstracts in different South Asian conferences, she has a fascination for academic research. She finds pleasure in revealing her thoughts through poems. She is an author of two published poems in Bengali Poetry Collections named as Chander Alokbarsha and Shata Kabir Shata Kobita.
