Savoring the Word Like a Cup of Chai
written by: Alexa Christen Joseph
Warm yet gentle,
the Word travels inside my temple.
The words are sacred, something I keep and love within me.
It is like a warm cup of chai
filled with love.
Reading His Word is comfort
the cozy feeling of warmth that settles deep within.
The Holy Spirit fills the room when our Bibles are opened
just like the aromatic smell of warm spices.
You can deeply sense the presence
it does not need to be seen to be known.
It is recognized within us.
Welcome the Word of God into the hearts of the people around you
as they enter your home
just like the chai you serve them willingly.
Not everyone will like your chai
maybe it is too bold that is the nature of chai.
If your chai feels too weak you add more spices.
Everyone’s chai is different.
How it looks does not matter
it is the taste that remains.
Do not sugarcoat your chai.
Too much sugar weakens the temple and may lead you astray in the long run.
It is okay to be sweet
but not everything in chai is meant to be delicate.
Some spices are strong and bold for a reason.
We must build our palate
so our taste is strong enough to receive it.
