Rage

Rage

written by: Larry Vernier Sr

I push the pain down deep inside
The darkest section of my soul
So I can keep my goals in focus while trying to remain whole.
I have fire in my eyes and hatred on my tongue.
It’s a complicated condition I’ve dealt with since I was young.
I would rather tear apart my grudges and sit and watch them burn
But I smile with so much contempt to get the respect I try to earn.
I hope my control stays steady and I walk the line that’s straight
Because if this rage ever escapes me
I’ll be consumed by violent hate.
