Passion

Passion

written by: Joe Schmidt

Passion is a wonderful thing:
It launched a thousand ships
To assault the city of Troy.
It bound two star-crossed lovers together
And tore their souls apart.
I was drawn to you by passion
Erupting between us like a volcano
Before bringing us down in flames.
But who ever gave up on passion?
To do so would be the ultimate infidelity,
The denial of one’s own humanity.
So how could I ever give up on passion?,
I ask myself while lying next to you.
Not I, I know.
Not now, not ever.
