Torn

Torn

written by: Sheri M. Stewart

Slip from the stress
choking me from life
twisting and tormenting.

Demands and needs
circling unanswered and wanting blood
my doom unavoidable.

I’m running for the stars,
knowing I can’t make the distance
but having to try.

Knowing I will be ripped back
rocketing forcefully to earth
tangled further in my turmoil.

Reaching from the gutters
straining for the heights
rapidly cycling in my mind.

Ripping holes in my existence
madly tearing myself to pieces
needing that insane pinnacle.

Until then existence laid bare
lying broken in this hell
my mind racing for the heavens again.
