The Death You Deserve

you want a villain
for your narrative,
and so i will let the humanity
in me wither and wilt like a flower
bowing before winter;
i was something more than human
daughter of a monster
i will let the beast in me rise
like an angry tide
resurrected by the moon—
always you gave promises
that were nothing more than
smoke and mirrors,
you never meant anything
sincerely;
all the lies you told
may they tear you apart before
i get my fangs on you—
because when the damphir in me rises
i will let the vampire get what she wants,
her fangs will find your precious life’s blood and spill it
onto her tongue until you can no longer rise again;
and i will not be sorry
when you are not merciful
you get the death you deserve.
