Bread of Misery

Bread of Misery

written by: Edwin Olu Bestman

While poverty enters the front
door of her heart,
Happiness crawls away
Sadness slaps her on her lower
abdomen
She’s a patient diagnosed of
pains and frustration

A beautiful single mother
A single bright child
But their armpits shed tears of sorrows
and brokenness
Sadly, their roof sleeps on fire cause
the formation is 0-0-1

Along the broad street,
Where she sits and sleeps with
dry lips,
Darkness scratches her back while
light pays no attention
Life penetrates her cell membrane

Rain falls on mama
Night sleeps on mama
Day greet mama
Ups and downs of a single lady
