Invisible Threads

Invisible Threads

Hope and faith
are hollow things,
that follow you
until the end.

They fill you up,
then drain you dry,
a cruel prank
upon your life.

You pray.
You offer sacrifice.
You bargain.
You cry in vain.

No one listens.
No one hears.
Deaf ears ignore
our fervor pleas.

Submerged in an
ice cold bath of disbelief,
we continue to push,
wanting to deny.

Never wanting
to let go,
we grasp at
invisible threads.
