Insomnia

Insomnia

written by: Aparna M P

This rainy night where everyone sleeps
Under their thick woolen blanket,
I in insomnia thought to write a poem to my beloved…

In this poem, I want to pour all my love for him.
Words should be antique,
filled with desires and passion…
Each line should be in perfect rhythm-
to evoke his feeling to kiss me.
Each and every spacing should express my stammering heart when I was around him…
And every stanza should symbolise our moments together in these years…

You were tired today.
You waved me a “good night”… then,
You fell into deep sleep earlier than I thought…
and to me, that felt too early…
It felt too early, that I was begging inside saying “please stay for a little while”
But the words never came…

My dear, what can I call you to wake you up this late night…?
Probably nothing…right?
You should sleep…
But to me, sleep is too far this night,
Even farther in dreams also…
So I am writing a beautiful poem for you from my heart…

Here goes the poem,
“I love you”.
