I’m Life

I’m Life

written by: Troy Allen Houston

I wanted to be happy.
Then life slapped me!
He said, “Are you for real?
I determine how you feel!
I decide when and if you get love.
Going down, I’ll give you a shove.
You think you are in control?
Future tellers think they know.
They don’t know what’s going to happen.
One day it’ll be their face I’m slapping.
My name’s Life, I have you for years.
I throw wrenches into your gears.
You don’t even have any idea.
No, I wouldn’t want to be ya.
I can make you feel miserable.
I can make you feel invincible.
I can take everything away.
Then give it back the next day.
That’s the way I usually work.
Some day’s I can be a real jerk.
I can make things go amiss.
Some days I let you feel bliss.
Do you have anything to say?
I want you to come out and play!
You can’t hide from me son,
Come on out let’s have fun.”
I didn’t like what Life had to say,
I don’t like the game Life plays.
Sometimes I can be thankful I have a life.
I don’t know why tho, he causes me strife.
