A Mother’s Song

A Mother’s Song

When I dandled you and sang
Of fairies and of men
Of kings, queens, forests, and hills
Of battlefields and zen.
My songs grow old, you blossom on
Drawing life from earth and sun
The corded arms, flex in pride
I’m behind forgotten.
I smile in pride, my chest swells
When you stride out so strong
A mother’s heart always beats
For her daughter and her son.
