A Morning in Spring

A Morning in Spring

written by: Zairheen Marie Nuñal

What does the morning bring
when life mirrors the color of spring?
A glimmer of hope for those who survived the storm
A promise of love for a couple’s newborn
A chance for a sinner to turn his life around
A sigh of relief to those who have been found
A fresh start for the joyful newlyweds
A love letter from a long-distance friend
A nostalgic feeling from a home-cooked meal
A gift of compassion for wounds to heal
While spring may be a symbol of a beautiful beginning
There are miseries behind the vibrant scene
There is quiet suffering; hearts numb from weeping
Amidst the colorful fields of flowers blooming
A loving home wrecked by a cruel storm
A kiss of a mother to her cold newborn
A sinner defeated by his own vices
A poignant lullaby of hopelessness
A marriage built on lies and pretenses
A minute too late to see a friend before sunset
A melancholic feeling of one’s happy meal
A long-sought apology drowned in silence
