A Sensation of Blue

A Sensation of Blue

there is a certain sensation
to the blue that the world becomes
when you look out of the window
across a long lonely room.
blue fields, blue roads.
blue skyscrapers, blue skies, even
when it is raining.
there is a certain sensation to that, yes.
just that I forgot what that sensation was.
since step by step through that long lonely room
something drew me ever closer to that window
till all the blue scattered into a frightening aray of colour.
half hoping I would fall out, into another life
i stepped closer still.
now see me walking among strange flowers,
all bustling and hastening about
from god knows where towards god knows where
all trying to remember at least a grain
of that certain sensation of blue
that the world becomes
when you look out of the window
across a long lonely room.
