A Woman

A Woman

she wears combat boots
big, chunky and well worn
still she feels like a woman
slightly loose on her hips
she prefers men’s jeans
still she feels like a woman
the more masculine her clothing
the far more female she feels
“Nothing beats a black leather
motorcycle jacket.” she says,
loving the freshly oiled smell,
along with the comforting weight
against her strong shoulders,
she fingers strands of her long black hair
“I’m thinking of shaving my head
just like Sinéad O’Connor.”
she does
she is a woman
