strangers can call me sir
before they see my face
on buses, trams and trains
say, i’m a strange type of girl
frankly, i don’t care anymore
no one can hold me hostage
by forcing me to wear a dress
or repress, restrain and punish
my androgynous nature again
after being warmly welcomed
by my brave new rainbow family
with their loving queer hearts
i hold my head up much higher
walk with such a bolder swagger
seriously, i’ve never felt happier
standing strong in the knowledge
sultry fierce femmes do want me
for exactly the soft butch i am
