April Fool’s Day

April Fool’s Day

written by: Norj Joseph

It was February, but it felt like April
You got me fooled really good, little by little
“In summer, I’ll be back.”, you gladly said
“It will be you and me, happily!”, you loudly exclaimed

But as the hot and dry summer dragged on
You, not even your shadow, were nowhere to be found
Was I abandoned and recklessly fooled by you?
Or did your ego and pride just take over you?

Many April Fool’s Days have passed
You suddenly reappeared from somewhere in my past
You were sorry for the chances you’ve blown
And professed your love for me and how it has grown

“I love you more, my love.”, you always tell me
This is too good to be true, but it is what I see
You are making me feel that this time, I truly own you
And I’m willing to give up everything just to be with you

It was February, but it felt like April
You got me fooled really good, little by little
As I put a golden ring on your fourth finger
Not even the month of April can fool us from our forever
