Autumn Is My Special Time

Autumn Is My Special Time

written by: Anne G

Leaves turn

yellow – orange – red

then gently fall from lofty trees

preparing for a winter’s sleep

The morning air

turns crisp and cold

the days grow short

the nights grow long

Burgeoning crops

of ripened corn

an Indian Summer

harvest gold

Excitement builds

Octobers’ end

Jack-O-Lanterns

to prepare

Haystacks, pumpkins

black cats too

children’s laughter

Halloween

The hearth is readied

Winters’ near

tiny snowflakes

soon appear

Roasted turkey

pumpkin pie

friends and family

and good cheer

Autumn is

my

special

time
