Bettklyn from Brooklyn
An Anne G
Original Poem
Bettklyn from Brooklyn
a bobby sox girl
born to the fifties
to doo-wop and soul
rocking and rolling
with side saddle shoes
raised up on tunes
of crooners and soul
Sinatra and Elvis
Darin and Boone
American Bandstand
on black and white screens
slipping and sliding
cha-cha and the twist
strolling along
on Blueberry Hill
transistor radio
music in hand
tap toeing steps
with a born
Brooklyn bounce

Why write?
I write because I am:
Driven to distraction by the inequities of the society in which we live.
Motivated by cruelty, abuse, ignorance and indifference.
My intention: To poke, prod and provoke!
"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." - Oscar Wilde
