Burns Night, a poem by Jamie B at Spillwords.com

Burns Night

Burns Night

written by: Jamie B

Upon this night of bitter cold and warm hearts,
We gather ’round the table, auld friends and new,
To honor Burns, the bard of Scotland’s soul,
Whose words still stir the embers of our spirits.

The haggis, steaming with savory scent,
Is borne aloft with pride and reverence,
As we stand in awe of this humble dish,
A symbol of our shared humanity.

With whisky raised in trembling hands,
We toast the haggis, its humble birth,
And celebrate the poet’s timeless verse,
That sings of love, of freedom, and of mirth.

So here’s to Burns, the ploughman poet,
Whose words still echo through the hills and glens,
And to the haggis, humble and revered,
A feast for body, soul, and kinship’s bonds.
