Cleopatra Hill

written by: Vicki Miko and Xenia Tran

@vickimiko

thoughts left behind
a parched calendar
swings on a nail
do words last?
does the sun?

in a place
where winds whistle
through abandoned stores
a bright sun feeds
the tree of heaven

Jerome’s Mini Mart
disenchanted
the flickering streetlights
no longer shine
the sun dims behind the mountain

it’s hard to see
who lived here …
this emptiness
spills from the town
where ghosts leave little trace
