Country Commute

Frosted fields and bales of hay,
tractors parked in cold stillness,
as I travel down the winding highway,
orange and pink glowing in the distance
spilling into a blue-grey sky, bringing a brilliant dawn.
If only I could shun the office,
the artificial movement and tasks of the day,
and return to my coffee and kitchen window,
to watch nature’s splendor on display.
