David Crown

‘little yellow flags’ he said
little people had left them
when their kings completed
sharing the magic gold

‘daffodils in rows’ I cried
flags follow wind not the Sun
‘no Welsh gold’ as an aside
its gold is paler than the flower

he gently sat by my side
bringing with him a bloom
taking my hand I complied
turned to his sun framed face

‘look David’ he slowly replied
from the daffodil a golden crown
of a nature never defiled
like my love when I am in the ground
