Decimation

Decimation

written by: Maria Dulce Leitão Reis

My eyes darken
The eyelids close …
My eyes
refuse to look
for the decimation
that ploughs the world
But can the heart
refuse to see?

No, he cannot!

The eyes can ignore
what they don’t see
but the heart …
how can he ignore
what does he feel?
