Drunken Poet

Drunken Poet

written by: Dawn Pisturino

I’m a drunken poet,
Whirling around
In the ecstasy of Divine Love.
My heart pounds wildly in my chest,
Beating a staccato drum roll.
My head explodes with divine revelations,
Driving the stars from the heavens.
The sun dances in the sky,
Revolving with bright colors
That blind me.
My ears ring joyously,
My mouth blasts a trumpet’s call
That shakes the earth
With a loud rumble.
Oh, divine messengers from God,
Help me grow with the fulness
Of your spirit!
Deliver me from my wicked desires
And bodily complaints.
I want to whirl,
Like a drunken lover,
In the compass of your love.
Let me soar like a dove
On wings of peace
And throw down the weapons of war.
Let me drink the wine of Divine Ecstasy,
Spilling out the sacred words
From my lips.
Lover and beloved.
United. Together.
One Spirit.
One.
