I Feel as if I Might Break

I Feel as if I Might Break

written by: Carol Anne

Crying in fear
As memories sear
Shedding tears
But I know it isn’t ok
I know I’ll be punished
Tears aren’t allowed
Stop crying now
Or I’ll give you something to cry about
Please someone hear me
Help me to get free
Free from this unbearable agony
Help me to get out
Hear my screams, my shouts
Please hear what I am not saying
I’m dying, slowly
This abuse is killing me
Please take away my pain
Please release me from the prison that I’m in
It hurts so much to breathe
It hurts everywhere
I’ve given up trying, I can’t seem to care
The fight has gone out of my eyes
Please let this violence subside.
Flashbacks all day every day
My mind is in a constant haze
I can’t feel my body
It doesn’t feel real
I feel like a fake
And I feel at any moment I could break.
