I Want To Believe

I Want To Believe

written by: Maria Dulce Leitão Reis

I’m flying errant
on the wings of hope…

I cross black clouds
laden with rain.
Others however
So cute and fluffy
like cotton wool.
I feel like rolling on them
but I’m afraid of falling
in free fall.

No matter where
nor where I go.
In this time of uncertainty,
all places are the same.

corpses and more corpses
wherever I turn.

I can’t kiss the ground
I can’t kiss the flowers …

Death brought a friend …
I want to believe
that the stay will not be long.
They are “persona non grata”
they only do damage.
If they insist on staying
there will be no human breed.

I want to believe
That the stay will not be long!

I’m flying errant
on the wings of hope…

Maybe land on a safe beach…
A sunny beach!
Where the sands
are not contaminated
or on top of a mountain
where pure and fresh air blows!

I’m flying errant
on the wings of hope…
