I Wet My Feet and I Cool Down

I Wet My Feet and I Cool Down

written by: Maria Dulce Leitão Reis

I feel your breath
In the stillness of my core,
synchronized
with the moan of seagulls
looking for food
on the waves of the sea.
I let the sound of the surf
kiss my ears,
to muffle the birds’ moan

I don’t understand
the reason for the moaning…

Pain?
Attracting sympathy?
Expressing pleasure?
whatever it is, it confuses me
generates stress and makes me ache.

I don’t understand
the reason for the moaning
That’s why I shudder.

I love the sea with passion
It washes my soul
calms my heart
soothes my libido.

I wet my feet and cool down!
