No Joy-No Peace

Riotous screams flee sore
tonsils, inflamed impressions
steely midnight hands clutch
her sweat soaked purple neck.
Sunlight winks, subsume blinds-
forcing tumed brown eyelids closed,
while distant game-shows penetrate
mildew painted sheetrock.
Dismal prompts flicker ridiculed
daydreams, releasing toxic mental
blurs to dark to decipher…too gray
to discuss with clarity and logic.
Chlorophyll renounce hanging plants
their right of passage, as roaches
march across dust-covered surfaces
if only to showcase abode filth.
Death lounges unperturbed, defiant
awaiting predestined rounds from a
stolen and scratched up weapon,
as days of peace take a back seat.
