All Or Nothing

All or Nothing

So there’s  this weight,

crushing down on my chest like a thousand boulders ….

Like waking sleep paralysis and I can’t breathe,

yet all at once I’m flying then, suddenly ship wrecked.

Sinking in your laughter and your smile,

your hands pluck me from the depths, into warmth, into safety.

Night falls, and I drown in the veil of your absence.

Longing  for your voice, my lungs choke on your silence.

Perfectly sure of how terrifying it is, to be hanging on the frailest string,

hinging on your existence, your attention, your decisions.

Love is a choice to relinquish control, to charge, unarmed into battle,

to display your naked soul. There’s no virtue, no point, nothing worth losing or to win.

To love is all or nothing. I guess it just is what it is ….
