One More Day

One More Day

If I could have one more day,
to spend with those loved ones gone.
There is so much I would say,
that might help me carry on.

I’d tell them how I miss them,
and how life isn’t the same.
All the tears I’ve tried to stem,
when someone mentions their name.

I would memorize their face,
and every word spoken.
I’d remind them of their place,
in my heart, though it’s broken.

I’d hug them so very tight,
never wanting to let go.
Holding on with all my might,
and tell them I love them so…
