Replica Of A Skull

A replica of a skull sits on his writing desk.
“Shakespeare?”
people always ask when they see it.
“Hamlet?” they assume.
He had gotten it from work, a surgeon
was clearing off his desk.
When he had asked “Hey, do you want this?”
he almost replied “Writing desk.”
Because that was his first thought.
Admittedly it did make him think of Shakespeare
of the semester in college where he almost failed
the course
because he didn’t want to read the plays.
He ended up taking the course again
received a B.
