Samhain From The Corner of My Eye

Samhain From The Corner of My Eye

written by: David Haven

I hear your voice
A whisper
Far across the chasm gray
A breath now near
Now silent
Now drifting far away

From the corner of my eye
I see you walking down the hall
But when I turn to look
I find there’s no one there at all.

And from the corner of my eye
I see you pass from room to room
a shadow gliding quietly
and silent as the tomb.

From the corner of my eye
I see my bedroom closet door
open wide then I hear footsteps
slowly walking ‘cross the floor.

Looking out my window pane
on the darkness of the sky
I see a shrouded figure
from the corner of my eye.

Like a mist upon the wind
the apparition drifts on by
oh it seems a mournful dirge to me
as night winds moan and cry.

All through the night, this haunted night
the winds they moan and cry
as through the silent veil of death
the restless spirits fly.

Yes through the veil of summer’s end
the restless spirits fly
and they appear
then disappear
from the corner of my eye.
