We build cairns of Sedona red rocks
like hopes piled
one upon
the other.
to tell
the passerby
how we worship
simple things
peace, for example.
Stone upon stone
we celebrate
steadiness
balance
harmonious
placement.
The way
things should be.
I am an instructor of creative writing at the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg.
