A Halloween Tale

I’ve got a spooky tale for you
On the day of Halloween
Did you see the shadows on the wall
How they rise and fall
Today, one of them came to life
Only to bleed from one eye
It then turned to dust
And fell at my feet
I thought that was rather neat
Even though I shun gore
It seemed like really good lore
From the annals of time
That needs neither reason nor rhyme
To be preserved in brine
