Shadows and Lies

Shadows and Lies

Ghostly visions haunt my memory
As I recall a love beyond space and time
Moments of pleasure and ecstasy
Interludes of peace and tranquility
Idylls of rest and rejuvenation
Fields of spring blossoms
Ripening to golden vistas of summer
Aqua skies and ivory clouds
Until the storms come
Droplets like steel shot
Canons booming across the plain
The battlefield strewn with fallen stars
Surveying the aftermath
Tendrils of smoke and fog rising from the ashes
All’s left of a torment present from inception
Yin to yang
Evil to good
I ask myself:
Which were shadows
And which lies?
