NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Illustration description: A portrait of Regis Korchinski-Paquet, based on the most widely circulated image of her. She wears a striped shirt and her hair in a ponytail, draped over her left shoulder. She leans to the right of the page, smiling in a relaxed and friendly way. The drawing itself is rendered in multiple colours layered to create light and shadow. Black ink lines define the figure and her features.

Regis Korchinski-Paquet is the young woman who, on May 27th of 2020, fell to her death from her apartment window during a police visit. The circumstances surrounding her death are deeply troubling and suspicious, and her death, unfortunately, seems to be part of a pattern of people of colour facing danger and violence at the hands of police.
