Surviving the Winter’s Wrath

It’s 10 degrees out but I got a burning sensation
I got an ax in my hand and I’m fighting temptation
My breathing is ragged
And I look so haggard
If you could only rewind so you’d see what happened
What happened?

I woke up on a winter day
They said a storm was coming our way
Made a cup of coffee
Two spoons sugar
Last thing on my mind
Was a goddamn murder

And then the ground shook all around me
I tried to duck and cover but it was too late
3 2 1 and it all went black
I don’t know how long I stayed like that

Sometime later they found me
Among dust and rubble, I was in a state
I asked what happened but no one answered back
I tried my phone but no luck with that

I walked the streets like a zombie
Looking for anyone from my family
I got so tired that I sat on the ground
Everyone was in a daze where I turned around

Then suddenly I was under attack
I started to run and I didn’t look back
I stayed this way for a few days
I was starving and hurt, and got nowhere to stay

Soon enough I found our land’s been cut off
No communication
No transportation
Nowhere to stay or runoff

It’s like they left us to kill each other
What happened to we’re in this together?
