The Deeper Dream

Mind slowly shutting down
eyes already closed
conscious thought is fading
embracing the sleep you chose.
Drifting ever deeper down
oblivion firmly taking hold
to the deeper dream you go
the path is dark and cold
Down too deep with no way back
streams of thought surround
pushing you further on
watching as you drown
Your mind they want to inhabit
dreamworlds seek to take control
the strong quickly defeat the weak
it’s time to pay the toll
Like it yes or like it not
the course must run unbroken.
When curtains rise on mind’s great stage
a dream has now been chosen.
Live another life completely
be it good or full of horror
until you feel the sweet release
there is no exit door.
I have always had a love affair with books and am an avid reader. I recently started writing poetry and have fallen in love with it. Expressing myself through the written word is a great release. Sharing my work with others and being welcomed into the communities of other writers is amazing.
