The House Within Me

The House Within Me

written by: Inna Ayrapetova

My inner world’s a house you wanna visit.
My dazzling smile’s a heavy golden door.
My funny jokes are diamonds going with it.
Well, open it… and see my grayish floor

Which has no silver – only crumbled plaster.
The ceiling and the walls are just the same,
Though decorated – time is running faster
In fun with lots of cold malicious flame.

This flame’s been freezing all the decorations
Like pics of me, that young and carefree girl,
Like pics of bright and joyful situations,
Like mirrors showing each delightful curl.

Those curls were shining with light and with darkness…
Well, wait a minute… Help me find my horse
Which will have inspiration as a harness.
I’ll take a risk, not scared of feeling worse.

One day my soul will show enormous power
Because I know the truth – no pain, no gain.
I’ll move in zeal, not scared of metal powder.
If I fall down, I’ll rise and ride again.

I’ll see your temples parting with your fingers,
I’ll see your fingers joining in acclaim
Addressed to me and to delighted singers
Performing, “Her soul is no longer lame!”
