The Sky at Night

The Sky at Night

written by: Andrea Walker

At dusk the moon rises
And swipes the sun away to bed
Dark clouds nestle
As the sun lays down
Her fiery head
And gold-tinged, bronze streaks
Are all she leaves behind
As the moon whispers slyly
You’ve been side lined
Birds hold their silence
Enveloped within wings
As the moon hums a tune
To the stars, he sings
And silvery moonbeams
Dart around and dance
As all manner
Of nocturnal wide-life
Awake to prance
The sun is defeated
And again stands forlorn
She disappears shouting
Remember!
I’ll be back at dawn
Each and every evening
This eternal playful fight
Before the moon
Shines triumphant
Resplendent in glory
Of the sky at night
