The Stage

The Stage

written by: Matt Theodoro

The adrenaline of it all, the rush of the moment
When the curtains open and the stage light shines
The thick rouge on your face, concealing your imperfections.
For one night, you are perfect, in the eyes of your audience.

Listen to the cue of the director, the master of the backstage!
Enter as your name is called, hold onto your breath.
See the smiles of the people as you appear in front of them.
Give them what they want, no disappointments allowed.

For the moment you’re on centerstage, all eyes on you.
It’s now or never, a choice was never yours as you stood strong.
The feeling of nervousness, replaced with effervescence.
As you get in with it, the stage is yours for the taking.

Their smiles, their cheer, they all fuel your confidence.
Forget that you’re ever someone who is afraid!
More and more as you feel the rush and thrill of the stage.
Who am I for a second? I could not recognize.

Conclusion befalls and a farewell must be proper.
Take a bow, blow a kiss and wave as you leave.
The lights dim as you exit, the curtain drops.
Be prepared, get dressed, for your next performance.
