Ties That Bind Me

It’s commonly thought that I enjoy strife. Maybe I hold myself in healthy regard. Enlightenment is destructive. A scary, harrowing process which I embrace nonetheless. I embrace confrontation, knowing it’s resented, knowing it will probably hurt. Causality’s executioner, eventuality will part the haze and there we will stand, unveiled in perfect light. No longer blurry, no longer rippling with unfathomable layers. The superficial cloak is then forever disrobed by stark, impartial reality. Convicting the destruction of my comfortable illusions, to sever ties of my own creation, ties that bind me. Only then can I be free to build upon the carcass of my shattered world. Free from subterfuge I can cut the puppet strings held taut by their master, hope. I haven’t forgotten, I no longer care.
