True Believer

And what makes
you a true
believer
and ardent
keeper of the faith
follower of
all the rules
a reader of all the verses
of all books of faith
Reading them all
Till you bleed
from your soul
seeking for that redemption
which for once again
will make you whole
On your bent knee and
folded hands
you pray and weep
cry and scream
till you get that
the screech
that muted death
choking you from inside
burning your soul
You repent and repent
dip, sip and soak
yourself in the holy water
and washing your self
incessantly
to wash away all those scars
carved in you
you bit that piece of bread
sing those verses and
those sway your body and
render your soul pure
But what do you believe
when your knuckles are
dripped in the
blood of the innocent and pure
you mock and walk away
from a soul
needy and poor
All your beliefs are purged
and thrown
out the window and
burned on the pyre
when
you have the devil perched
on your shoulder
singing the songs
of your desire.
