Waiting...

written by: Dr. MOLLY JOSEPH

Is it
becoming
a myth
the river
flowing
peacefully...
the mornings
dawning
delicate
fresh...

gone
are the days
we rowed
our canoes
that danced
on waves..
our small
nets
teeming
with throbbing
fish...

on our
shores serene
fond faces
waiting,
life floating
in content...

no torrent
turned things
topsy turvy..

no frenetic
jostlings
to out smart...

the river
now
a whirlpool
muddied,
sucking in
life,
its anchors
that once
stood firm....

can we
ever
retrieve
those days
when
sleep came
soft, sweet,
to wake up
on morns
to run life
on grooves
smooth, clear...

waiting..
waiting,
for those
days to dawn...
