Women of A Certain Age

“we’ve become of a
certain age,” she said.
“i’ll be damned if i’m
gonna let it define us.
i flinched for a second,
then went to numb, having
tackled far greater pain
than this;
i turned to Anita, and
said “your nose or your
nipple, girlfriend –
you are next.”
When not writing poetry Emalisa Rose enjoys crafting and birding. She volunteers in animal rescue tending to cat adoptions and cat colonies. She works as a lunch lady in a public school in NYC.
